A series of twelve digital collages—one for each month of the year—created in the style of Richard Hamilton. Influenced by my time in the United States and my deep love for pop culture, I immersed myself in the world of the American suburbs, a place that fascinates and repels me in equal measure: happy families, hardworking fathers, loving mothers, identical houses, white picket fences, a protective environment… but protecting against what, exactly?
This mid-20th-century utopia evokes the unsettling worlds of David Lynch and John Waters, as well as Mrs. Bridge by Evan S. Connell, a novel I was reading at the time. The twelve collages were later used as the design for a 2023 calendar.
